Who Qualifies For The Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.

Applications are now open and may close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to satisfy the following requirements:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who originates from a home that has a combined gross house income that doesn't exceed R350 000 per annum.

• People with disabilities qualify if their combined family income would not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients immediately qualify for funding and want not submit any evidence of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is 2025 nsfas application open to all South African citizens and permanent inhabitants from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 per annum.

NSFAS only funds people who are studying or intend to study at a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
